We partnered with Traildeer to rapidly develop their vision of a two-sided marketplace connecting avid riders with local bike guides. What was just a broad idea on day 1 came to be a full-blown and beautiful digital product in as little as 12 weeks.
The Partner
Traildeer is a mountain bike platform for guides and riders. It helps riders discover trails in new areas in the most effective, fun, and safest way possible.
Traildeer connects local guides who know their mountains best with riders from other regions who want to have an exciting time on their bike without all the hassle around it.
“ Panaxeo team became Traildeer team for 3 months. I could see they were invested in the product design as much as we were. I love the brand design we went for. Their expertise in designing digital products definitely reflects the Traildeer experience. It significantly shortened the time we needed for an MVP and that is great. The sooner we launch the sooner we can test the market. “

Phase 1, week 1.
Research & Product Strategy
Starting in June, we worked with the customer on a daily basis. The goal was to form a solid MVP scope that would bring maximum customer value within the shortest possible timeframe. Our research shed new light on understanding the market and painted a clear vision of the clients’ ideas. The product strategy drew up a product roadmap, including the team setup. All within a 7-day window.
We asked ourselves a lot of questions:
Who are our users? What are their personas? What do the system agents need in order to accomplish the tasks? What kind of digital experience are they used to and what do they expect? How to design the system as future-proof as possible, knowing the real user feedback will bring a lot of new ideas?
Phase 2, week 2.
Brand design
Building on our product strategy we set out to bring the Traildeer brand to life. Preliminary research on competition and brands relevant for our users provided us inspiration. We drew up several mood boards on how the brand may look and feel. Fresh yellow&black design was a winner. It works great for both digital and print.
Actual setting of project
Once we reached a point where we have a solid idea of scope and an acceptable time frame, we formed a team of a developer, architect, project manager and a designer in under a week.
Phase 3, week 2. & 3.
Product UX/UI design
Brainstorming all the journeys the users could take within the app led us to first screen designs and information flows. Even though it officially is just an MVP, we have put in the effort to make the product feel great, not just viable.
Working closely with the client and within several aisle-testing rounds we perfected all user journeys and information flows. We got a design prototype.
Phase 4, week 3. & 12.
Product Development
The exciting part - we brought the Traildeer product to life. Whole team - developer, architect, project manager and designer - was well familiar with the product by now. Even then delivering a production-ready two-sided marketplace in under 10 weeks was a challenge. The Sharetribe platform helped us get the marketplace foundations up and running quickly.
Several sprints of frontend, backend, design and infrastructure work followed. All work culminated in September 2020 with a product release.

“ You can definitely find some bike lovers in the Panaxeo team. As a fellow biker, working on this project was a pleasure. The brand identity was the first step in designing the website. We went for a distinctive yellow colour and a funky logotype to illustrate the fun & freedom only a mountain bike can provide. “
